That Pretty Pretty; or the Rape Play by Sheila Callaghan is a polarizing piece of theatre. I summarize this play as an attempt to explode gender roles through the lens of the progression of American culture from the character’s childhood’s in the late 70′s and early 80′s into today. What I like most about the world of the play is that it is also about the creative process, and once something is introduced into the world, it never leaves, but shifts and warps through time and revision, until arriving at a hyper-real climax and sarcastic denouement.
