Blasted by Sarah Kane is a beautiful piece to design. There is so much room to explore, mostly though transitions, which can be as big a part of the play as the action. So much of my design work deals with transitions, and this piece is no exception. Apart from making a prop baby cry, there was room to compose some really gorgeous music. I wanted to have the formality of the classical world, and also to incorporate real sounds into those compositions.
